Meet the animals!

We try our best to bring a variety of animals to all of our petting zoos. Large events we tend to bring more of each one to keep them hungry enough for larger crowds. We post fun facts on every pen to help kids and adults learn about each type of animal.

I’m sorry but we do not let kids or adults in with the animals. Our animals get a little to excited and we worry they may knock you down. We do have lowered fences that make it easy to reach and pet them. The goats and sheep will even reach over the fence for you.

We are happy to announce we are now traveling in Illinois AND Iowa! At the moment we can not bring pigs into Iowa because of additional requirements needed.

Larry

Larry is a llama. He was born 10/22/2017. Llama’s can have Huacaya (pronounced “wokaya”) wool or Suri wool. Huacaya wool is a shorter fiber that creates a teddy bear look. Suri wool is longer fibers that resemble dread locks. Larry’s wool is Suri. Larry is a kisser! Make sure to stand very still and he will give you a little kiss. Please note he likes to steal things too LOL. He has been known to take cups, suckers, and hats.

Lucas

Lucas is a llama. He was born 8/7/22. Lucas has Huacaya wool.

Several ask what the difference is between Llamas and Alpacas. There are two easy ways to tell between the two. Llamas are usually taller than alpacas. Llamas also have banana shaped ears and Alpacas have more of a pear shaped ear.

Carlos (short for Carlos Santana)

Carlos is an Alpaca. We was born in 2020. Carlos has Huacaya wool.

Annabelle

Annabelle is a Dexter which is a breed of Miniature Cows. She was born on 6/28/2018. Annabelle has grown up doing petting zoos and loves kids. She is very gentle.

Black Betty

Black Betty was born 3/14/22. Black Betty is a Dexter just like Annabelle. She has also grown up like Annabelle doing petting zoos and loves kids.

Shetland Sheep

We have several Shetland Sheep that travel with us. Shetlands are a smaller breed that are very calm and curious. They love attention and will wag their tags when being petted.

Pygmy / Nigerian Dwarf Goats

Our goats are a mix of Pygmy and Nigerian Dwarf. Our very first goat on the farm was a rescue and we didn’t actually know her breed. Almost every goat on our farm is an ancestor of our original girl from almost 20 years ago. We do have a couple rescued goats that needed new homes so they came to live with us.

Poultry

We try to bring a variety of birds to the petting zoos. We usually bring chickens, ducks, a turkey, and a goose. If we have babies, we try to bring them along also.

Rabbits

We have Flemish Giants, Mini Rex, and Netherland Dwarf rabbits. We usually bring at least one or two to most events.

Piglets

Occasionally we have piglets small enough to bring along with.

We raise free range meat pigs that are 75% berkshire 25% mix.

Kune Kune pigs.

We just acquired some Kune Kune (pronounced cooney cooney) pigs at the beginning of 2022. They are a smaller breed of pig and are supposed to be trainable. We are hoping we can work with them to bring with us this year.

At this time we can not bring pigs to Iowa because of a few extra requirements that are needed.

We have several more animals that live on our farm. If you would like to meet the rest of the gang, please call or message us to schedule a farm visit!
